Welcome to Virtuozzy Rhythm Builder for iPhone/iPad, a fun and intutitive music bar-building game, made especially for young music students (age 4-12).

As a beginner learning to read music, have you ever wondered: How long is a note? What does the little dot mean? Why are some rhythms black and some are white?

This game makes it visible.

All rhythmic time values are packed into boxes, short ones in small boxes, long ones in long boxes. Now you can see it yourself. Building whole bars of rhythm becomes fun and intuitive.A whole note is four times longer than a quarter note. This becomes easy to understand when you are holding two different boxes, where one is four times longer than the other.

As music teachers we have noticed a great increase in learning speed when our students are able to touch music theory with their fingers. Using flash cards and building blocks it is easy to see and feel the length of a specific time value.

We created Rhythm Builder, our first game for smartphones and tablets, with these experiences in mind.

There are 12 levels in the game, starting with building 4-count bars with quarter and half notes. When a bar is completed you can hear the result played by different percussion instruments. As the game continues, many new rhythms are introduced and it goes faster and faster.

The plot is to fill as many bars with rhythm boxes as quickly as possible, to prevent the random falling rhythms from making a big mess. See for yourself what happens if it goes wrong :)

By completing each level, you help Ozzy the Owl build his new home in the forest after it was originally destroyed by lightning.

A good understanding of rhythm is a knowledge tool that makes it easier to read and play music.

Have fun learning about rhythm while playing Rhythm Builder. Its learning by doing!

Best regards,
The Virtuozzy Team
